Food Safety Compliance Manager

We are looking to expand our team with a Food Safety Compliance Manager.

We are looking for an experienced Food Technologist, Chemist or Quality Engineer that will be an inspiring team player within a company value system that is built around Excellence, Innovation and Responsibility.

The position reports to the Customer Services Director and belongs in the Food Safety Quality Team.

The job scope is:

  • to ensure that regulatory requirements, customer specific requirements and legal requirements are addressed and incorporated into the designed food safety/quality management systems.
  • to monitor compliance, develop processes and reporting mechanisms that add value to the quality management systems and ensure continuous improvement.

The main responsibilities include:

  • Communicating with key stakeholders (including customers and production operations team) for determining quality/ food safety system needs and requirements
  • Designing and overseeing the quality management, food safety, hygiene and defense system and ensuring it is effective, fit for purpose and capable of leading to continuous improvement – managing relevant verification and monitoring activities and plans
  • Analysing processes, reviewing models and best practices and designing the appropriate quality processes /procedures/instructions, policies, risk assessments and quality programmes
  • Managing the systems review process, assessing compatibility with customer requirements and implementing changes that improve functionality, compliance and effectiveness
  • Representing the company in food safety /quality and customer related external auditing processes, managing the internal and external auditing processes and acting as the HACCP Coordinator
  • Reporting on the effectiveness and suitability of the food safety and quality management system
  • Managing a team of Food Safety specialist

Essential job requirements

  • Relevant academic background, ideally with completed post-graduate training schemes
  • Extended knowledge, experience of at least 5 years in a factory environment and active involvement in quality/food safety management systems, with proven experience in managing a team  
  • Very good knowledge, ability to understand, review and apply global and customer related food safety – quality standards and schemes
  • Proficiency in communicating in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Excellent leadership and organizational skills
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • High level collaborating and team working skills – ability to lead by example
